King Saud University is going through an era of revolutionary development prevailing all aspects, and aiming to modernize systems and services of the University, and promote its ranking among the global best Universities. This includes the development of its main university library, ” Prince Salman Library ” to enhance its ability of providing the best services for users of students, professors and researchers.

The University‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎s desire to keep pace with the latest technology developments in the area of library services has steered the University, represented by the Deanship of Library Affairs, to launch a major project to develop the current library‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎s database. This project is utilizing the state-of-the-art outputs of information systems, indexing, digitalization and automation in library management, and the development will cover the whole information resources of collections in hold of the library.
Project‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎s scope of work also includes the indexing of Arabic books that have not been indexed yet by the unified Arab Union Catalog , indexing of manuscripts and upgrading their records, converting of references, Indexing of Arab and foreign periodicals, maps, government publications and dissertations.

Dr. Ahmed bin Khudair, Dean of Library Affairs at King Saud University, praised such steps that keep pace with the rapid development in all sections and sectors of the University, thanks to the efforts of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman, director of the university, and in support of His Excellency Dr. Khaled Alangari, Minister of Higher Education.
Arabian Advanced Systems (AAS), a leading Arab world company in the library solutions and services, is undertaking the implementation of this project .

Engineer Abdul Jabbar Al- Abdul Jabbar, Executive President of AAS expressed his happiness to work with the University on this important project which provides the IT infrastructure for the University‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎s digital library. Engineer Abdul Jabbar said that provision of an accurate, orderly , and compatible e- directory, is a prerequisite element in construction of an e-library and development of its e-services…. and this is the mission that AAS will undertake, harnessing its vast and long experience in this area for the success of this project.
