As part of the continuous cooperation between Naseej – the Arab World’s leader in Knowledge Management Solutions – and the Saudi Digital Library for training the members of Saudi Consortium of Academic Libraries, Naseej has organized a training course about how to use and benefit from the university’s digital library. The course was held in the main auditorium of the Conference Center at the University of Hail on Sunday 9/11/1434. The session witnessed significant attendance by students and faculty, including a good number of female faculty members.
 
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Turki Al Mutlaq – Dean of Library Affairs. In his statement, Prof. Al Mutlaq confirmed the importance of digital library to Academic community – students, faculty, staff and researchers. He also stressed “Subscription to such big number of information resources is not an aim in itself. Rather, our chief objective is to ensure effective investment of the academic and scientific researches included.  Prof. Al Mutlaq went to demonstrate how to log on to the digital library and obtaining access to all available resources on its portal.
 
A lecture was also given by Prof. Abdullah Al Shimary – Head of the Biology Depart, Faculty of Science – where he reviewed the usage statistics of information resources by the Academic community. Prof. Al Shimary also detailed the benefits of information resources subscribed to by the university, as well as the standards whereupon patrons decide to use and search through a specific professional database.
 
This was followed by two lectures delivered by Prof. Abdullah Hussain Metwally – Naseej Knowledge Solutions Consultant – where he introduced the cutting edge Arabic professional databases offered by Naseej; including books, dissertations, researches, peer-reviewed journals as well as Pan Arab News Index. The Databases also comprise peer-reviewed journals in computer, health, technology, information and knowledge management systems. Prof. Abdullah also presented a live demo of search in both databases; highlighting the search capabilities, how to review search results and add them to the researcher’s list of references. The training course witnessed considerable interactive discussions between audience and the lecturers who gave answers to all the audience’s inquiries.
