Under the patronage of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Jordan, and in collaboration with Naseej – the Arab world’s leader in Knowledge Management Solutions, the Arab Union Catalog (AUC) held a seminar for Iraqi libraries on February 23–25, 2014 in the Central Library of the University of Jordan in Amman.
 
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Ekhlief Al-Tarawneh, President of the University of Jordan, in the presence of Dr. Saleh Al-Musnad representing the AUC. Over two days, the Iraqi delegation – comprised of 40 librarians and indexers from 16 Iraqi universities – was trained in how to develop top-quality bibliographic databases, to enable Iraqi libraries to make their catalogs available online for patrons all over the world. The delegation also learned about the Arab Union Catalog‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎s current and future services and projects, and how to obtain membership of the AUC. Dr. Mohammed Abd Atiya Al Siraj, General Manager of the R&D Department at the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, pinpointed the  vital contribution the AUC has made to the development of libraries in Iraqi universities.
 
During the seminar, Naseej showcased its cutting-edge RFID Security Solutions and world-class Library Management Solutions (Symphony and Sierra), when the Iraqi delegation visited the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) to learn more about its central library services, the Horizon/Symphony systems, and 3M RFID Solutions for Libraries.
