?The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – Sponsored by Naseej and ProQuest, Library of Jordan University hosted a professional training workshop on ProQuest s ProQuest s databases and information resources and Summon Web-scale discovery service. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Anas Obaid – ProQuest s Customer Experience Training & Consulting Partner – MEA The training was attended by library leaders and databases professionals from public universities, as well as library liaison officers and databases professionals from private universities.
The event derives its importance from the fact that Center of Excellence (CoE) for Jordanian Public Universities Libraries has subscribed to ProQuest s professional databases and information resources, as well as Summon Web-scale discovery service. This subscription makes ProQuest Central databases and ProQuest SciTech collection available for the first time for CoE s constituents. In addition, Summon Web-scale discovery service provides a unique discovery service based on a unified content directory, and allows full-text search across the majority of professional books, articles and scientific journals.
The workshop offered a unique opportunity to participating liaison officers and databases professionals from public universities to have direct training on using Summon Web-scale search engine to ensure effective and full utilization of the available databases and information resources. Likewise, private universities were updated on public universities experience with ProQuest s databases and Summon Web-scale discovery service.
